The Planning for Equity, Accessibility, and Community Health (PEACH) Research Unit, School of Planning, Dalhousie University is pleased to introduce a lunchtime lecture series: First-Person Narratives for an Accessible Built Environment.

The objective of the series is to enhance our understanding of how built and social spaces can meet the diverse needs of all community members. The speakers in this series will discuss their first-hand experience of barriers in the built environment and share their insights about various issues of disability in Halifax. This series is part of a collaborative research project looking at how to encourage the development of more inclusive public spaces.

Please join us on Wednesday, November 20th as we launch the series. The first speaker is Frank O’Sullivan from the Society of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Nova Scotia. Frank will be speaking about his personal experience of living as a deaf person; social and physical barriers due to disability; and etiquette for working, interacting and communicating with persons who are deaf or hard-of-hearing.
