Topic: CivicTech in Atlantic Canada: Sandi will be presenting on Civic Tech Fredericton. Civic Tech is a national movement. In Fredericton volunteers from our IT community meet to hack out solutions for our community. Non-profits pitch ideas and the team decides if they want to work on the projects.  Everything developed is free and available to all other civic techs across Canada. This system leverages the IT sector who want to give back to their community but not interested in fundraising, etc. They want to use their skills. Most participants are new Canadians who both find community and employment through the CivicTech community. Outcomes include improvements to transit and public services to better suit the homeless and working poor.
