The successful candidate will participate in a wide variety of heritage conservation issues from both a design and technical perspective and enhance the ability of the department to fulfill its mandate by acting as a valued member of the heritage conservation team.

The proponent will be appointed as one of the City’s Heritage Officers pursuant to the Heritage Conservation Act and will provide professional recommendations and support to the Heritage Development Board.  Providing professional design and technical conservation advice to property owners in heritage conservation areas and the general public is another key responsibility.

This position works collaboratively in a team environment to deliver excellent customer service while meeting departmental service delivery targets.

Qualifications

This position requires excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills as well as tact and diplomacy. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.

You must be able to demonstrate interest and expertise in heritage conservation. Membership in the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, as well as heritage conservation organizations, will be considered an asset.

Education requirement preference is a degree in architecture or heritage conservation; a two year diploma program in architectural technology or heritage conservation will also be considered.

The successful applicant will be eligible to work a compressed work week of 4 days (Monday to Thursday) throughout the trial period of the City’s recently adopted Compressed Work Week Trial.  This schedule is subject to change.
