The Halifax Regional Centre for Education is the largest Regional Centre for Education in Nova Scotia. With over 52,000 students (and growing) on 137 sites across Halifax Regional Municipality the Operations team works diligently to ensure that students have the spaces they need, and the services they require, to ensure high quality education every day. Our Capital Projects team manages improvements to our buildings to improve efficiency and accessibility while ensuring there is the proper space for all HRCE programs. They also work closely with the Departments of Education & Early Childhood Development, and Transportation & Infrastructure Renewal, to ensure that the Major Capital Planning and design of new schools meet the needs of our growing communities.

 

The Capital Team is looking to add a Planning & Project Specialist to add capacity in analyzing demographics, spearheading consultation in community, liaising with Provincial Government departments on new school construction, and working with Halifax Regional Municipality on tracking sub-division applications and long term planning projects.

Qualifications:

(a) Completion of a college or university program in a discipline related to planning, engineering, or construction;

(b) Minimum three (3) years experience in Project or Data Management, preferably within a capital planning environment;

(c) Relevant experience working in educational institutions or public sector considered an asset;

(d) Access to a reliable vehicle to travel to required sites.

 

Start Date: March 3, 2020

 

Salary: This is a PEG (Professional Employees Group) position with an annual salary on the NCR 9 scale ranging from $55,018.34 to $72, 212.38 Professional Employees Group (PEG) Terms and Conditions of Employment apply.
