Bill Budd Named Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Planners

The Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) has posthumously named Bill Budd, FCIP, as a Fellow of the Institute for 2026, recognizing his exceptional contributions to the planning profession across Canada.


Approved by the CIP Board of Directors following a recommendation from the Honours and Awards Jury, the Fellowship designation is the highest honour that the Institute can bestow upon one of its members. It recognizes individuals who have made outstanding national contributions to planning and have demonstrated leadership and service that have advanced the profession.


Throughout his distinguished career, Bill Budd made a lasting impact on planning practice and the communities he served. His dedication, expertise, and commitment to the profession have left an enduring legacy that continues to influence planners across the country.


The Canadian Institute of Planners publicly announced its 2026 Fellows on June 10, 2026. This well-deserved recognition celebrates Bill’s remarkable achievements and honours the significant contributions he made to the planning profession throughout his lifetime.
