The Restigouche Regional Service Commission is seeking applicants for the position of Planner starting in 2021. The Restigouche RSC provides land use planning and development services to the municipalities and communities within the Restigouche region.  Please visit our website (www.restigouche.ca) to learn more about the RSC and the Restigouche Region.

Reporting to the Director of Planning Services and working closely with our Senior Planner, responsibilities & duties include:

  • Development of rural plans, zoning regulations and bylaws according to the Community Planning Act
    • Coordinating, research and drafting land use and community planning policies such as municipal/rural plans and by-laws:
      • Processing of zoning by-law amendments (Evaluating, drafting and reviewing) including research & consultation with communities, government departments & agencies
        • Drafting development agreements for rezonings to permit specific proposals
        • Support/training to municipal clerks on the requirements of the Community Planning Act
      • Developing and/or participating to the development of rural plans for municipalities as well as unincorporated areas
      • Leading working groups & coordinating community consultations for rural plans, etc.
    • Offer support to development officers in investigating and enforcing provincial regulations, rural plans and zoning, subdivision, building and other regulations under the Community Planning Act

 

Education, Skills & Experience:

Degree from a university planning program recognized by the Canadian Institute of Planners. A minimum of two years work experience is desired and Membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners is preferred.  Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English and French is required.

Some evening and weekend work may be required.  Reliable transportation is required.
